Last weekend I turned 29! On my birthday, a friend of mine who is very kind, beautiful and makes delicious cakes and icecream invited me to her house:> She taught me how to prepare her special granola recipe<3 I had a wonderful birthday!!

Yuzu marmalade

A week ago, I made a three day trip to Kumamoto. It was planned only a couple of days before–still, I managed to see them all and have fun. I saw my parents, my brother, my grandma, my grandparents and my aunt and uncle.

I brought a jar of Yuzu marmalade back to Tokyo for my husband. The marmalade was made by my grandma with yuzu harvested in my aunt and uncle’s garden. I also brought a loaf of bread my mom baked. We enjoyed the marmalade with toast♥

tangled yoke cardigan

I have been knitting tangled yoke cardigan by Eunny Jang. It is finished now. I really enjoyed knitting it. I am wearing it as I write this. It feels very warm and nice. 

Eunny Jangさんのパターン、tangled yoke cardigan を編んでいました。編んでいて、とても楽しいパターンでした。パソコンに向かっている今も、このカーディガンを着ていますが、暖かく、着心地も良いです。

I used 3.0mm needle to get the right gage.

３号針を使用しました。

I started cable pattern an inch earlier and added some short rows after the cable pattern to make it fit.

ケーブルパターンを指定されていたよりも１インチほど早く初め、ケーブルパターンの後、引き返し編みを多く入れました。

Lapland mittens, new yarn

 

前回のポストの後、ミトンを完成させました。嶋田俊之さんの「北欧のニットこものたち」に出ているラップランドの３色編み込みのミトンです。詳細はラベリーにも書きましたので、そちらもご覧ください。

I have one little tip for making this mittens.

When you are knitting (actually purling) this unique edge, you have to keep all of your yarns in front of your work. This may be an obvious thing for many of you, but I didn’t get it until after ripping it three times… 

 

ブロッキングのときに、タオルの代わりに水泳のときに使うセームで水を切ってみました。吸水性がとても良いです。

At blocking, I used a swimming chamois instead of an ordinary towel. It works well. :>

 

 

 

昨日は一日中紡いでいました。シルク入りメリノです。2-plyにしてみました。

I spun all day yesterday. The batt is merino with a little silk.

I spun it into 2-ply yarn.

Last night, I received my first spinning wheel. I am very very happy. It is a double treadle Joy Ashford.

６色パックの１００gのメリノ、シルク入りメリノロール１４０g、綿１００g、リネンスライバー１００gです。

 

どんな糸になるか楽しみです。

 

 

 

 

 

 

今日は、dishclothを編みました。前に使った糸で余っていたものがあったので、糸を片付けるべく、全部編みました。

少し小さく、３６目で減目を始めました。

皿を洗うのに、以前この糸で作ったものを使っていますが、リネンはすぐに乾くのでとても気に入っています。欲を言えば、もう少し細い糸のほうが私の好みです。

 

 

 

Fetching

I wanted to knit something that calms me down. It is not that I am not calm at the moment, I just wanted to knit a simple quick something for me, just for fun.

So I knitted my first fetching. It is the most popular pattern on Ravely.

This was a fun and quick project. It also turned out to be a special project for me because I used one of my-first-hand-spun-yarn-using-a-wheel. I spun this naturally brown yarn in summer 2008. I took a spinning class one afternoon, there, I spun and plied merino wool on a saxony style wheel by Ashford. 

The problem is, as you can see, there weren’t enough yarn for a pair. I used a commercially-spun yarns (held double) from my stash to knit the first 1/3 and the last  1/3 of right hand. I am happy with the result.

In order to make them in one same yarn, I could have spun more yarn on my spindle, (even though I am not good at it at all) because I have the same roving I used for the yarn. Or I could have just wait for my wheel to arrive and then spin more yarn. But it’s not the same, I figured. 

I could’ve probably make them at least in the same design…I could knit both cuffs with the store-bought-yarns and the body with my hand-spun for example. But, with the way I  knitted, you can see how much I spun for the first time, one and 1/3 glove of fetching!

Everytime I wear this little odd pair of fetching, I will remember the great time I had in summer 2008.

ちぐはぐなfetching完成しました。左手は全部、私が初めて紡いだ糸で編んでいます。右手は糸が足りなかったので、在庫糸を足しました。随分ユニークなものになりましたが、自分では満足しています。

この糸は昨年の８月、北海道のアナンダで教えてもらいながら紡いだものです。アナンダ北海道江別店は駅から歩いて２０分ほどのところにある、思っていたよりも小さなところでした（北海道の店はどこも広いと勝手に思ってました…）。お店の人は本当に親切で、とてもとても楽しい時間を過ごしました。

教えてもらったのはsingle treadle（ペダル１つ）の紡ぎ車でした。私が今回買ったのは、double treadle（ペダル２つ）です。（まだ手元に届いていません。）実はまだ、double treadleの紡ぎ車を使ったことがありません。double treadle どころか紡ぎ車自体使ったのはこのとき一回だけです。やっぱりsingle treadle の方が良かったんじゃないか…とかいろいろ考えてしまいます。早く届きますように！

週末は吉祥寺に

友達と毛糸ショッピングに行って来ました。

をこの順番でまわりました。あ〜楽しかった！１時半に待ち合わせて、６時に別れるまで、休憩も挟まずに歩きつづけました。買いたい糸、編みたい糸がたくさんあって、疲れなんか全然感じませんでした。たくさん買い物をしたのは友達！！すごくきれいな色の毛糸を次々に買っていました。

私は、毛糸のショッピングではなく、ウィンドーショッピング。結局なにも買いませんでした。美しい糸をたくさん見て、幸せな気分になっただけです。もちろん色々と買いたい糸はありましたし、今日になっても、やっぱりあれを買いに行こうか．．．と頭から離れない糸が３種類くらいはありますが．．．やはり私は、編むパターンが決まってからでないと、糸を決めたり、買ったりできないようです。といっても、在庫糸が全くない訳ではありません．．．（編み物好きの皆さまご安心を！）それに、今インターネットで買った毛糸が届くのを待っているところなのです。それで、ここのところ、ずっとそわそわしています。しかも待っているのは、毛糸だけではありません。私の初めての紡ぎ車も、これから海を渡って来る予定です。どちらも届きましたら、ブログに書く予定です。良かったら、またのぞいてみてください。

お正月に札幌に住む夫のおばあちゃんと話をしたときに、おばあちゃんが、「昔は靴下編んだよ〜。親指も作ったよ。そんなに難しくないよ。」と言うのを聞いて、足袋のようにしてみました。
