Fetching

I wanted to knit something that calms me down. It is not that I am not calm at the moment, I just wanted to knit a simple quick something for me, just for fun.

So I knitted my first fetching. It is the most popular pattern on Ravely.

This was a fun and quick project. It also turned out to be a special project for me because I used one of my-first-hand-spun-yarn-using-a-wheel. I spun this naturally brown yarn in summer 2008. I took a spinning class one afternoon, there, I spun and plied merino wool on a saxony style wheel by Ashford. 

The problem is, as you can see, there weren’t enough yarn for a pair. I used a commercially-spun yarns (held double) from my stash to knit the first 1/3 and the last  1/3 of right hand. I am happy with the result.

In order to make them in one same yarn, I could have spun more yarn on my spindle, (even though I am not good at it at all) because I have the same roving I used for the yarn. Or I could have just wait for my wheel to arrive and then spin more yarn. But it’s not the same, I figured. 

I could’ve probably make them at least in the same design…I could knit both cuffs with the store-bought-yarns and the body with my hand-spun for example. But, with the way I  knitted, you can see how much I spun for the first time, one and 1/3 glove of fetching!

Everytime I wear this little odd pair of fetching, I will remember the great time I had in summer 2008.

ちぐはぐなfetching完成しました。左手は全部、私が初めて紡いだ糸で編んでいます。右手は糸が足りなかったので、在庫糸を足しました。随分ユニークなものになりましたが、自分では満足しています。

この糸は昨年の８月、北海道のアナンダで教えてもらいながら紡いだものです。アナンダ北海道江別店は駅から歩いて２０分ほどのところにある、思っていたよりも小さなところでした（北海道の店はどこも広いと勝手に思ってました…）。お店の人は本当に親切で、とてもとても楽しい時間を過ごしました。

教えてもらったのはsingle treadle（ペダル１つ）の紡ぎ車でした。私が今回買ったのは、double treadle（ペダル２つ）です。（まだ手元に届いていません。）実はまだ、double treadleの紡ぎ車を使ったことがありません。double treadle どころか紡ぎ車自体使ったのはこのとき一回だけです。やっぱりsingle treadle の方が良かったんじゃないか…とかいろいろ考えてしまいます。早く届きますように！

週末は吉祥寺に

友達と毛糸ショッピングに行って来ました。

をこの順番でまわりました。あ〜楽しかった！１時半に待ち合わせて、６時に別れるまで、休憩も挟まずに歩きつづけました。買いたい糸、編みたい糸がたくさんあって、疲れなんか全然感じませんでした。たくさん買い物をしたのは友達！！すごくきれいな色の毛糸を次々に買っていました。

私は、毛糸のショッピングではなく、ウィンドーショッピング。結局なにも買いませんでした。美しい糸をたくさん見て、幸せな気分になっただけです。もちろん色々と買いたい糸はありましたし、今日になっても、やっぱりあれを買いに行こうか．．．と頭から離れない糸が３種類くらいはありますが．．．やはり私は、編むパターンが決まってからでないと、糸を決めたり、買ったりできないようです。といっても、在庫糸が全くない訳ではありません．．．（編み物好きの皆さまご安心を！）それに、今インターネットで買った毛糸が届くのを待っているところなのです。それで、ここのところ、ずっとそわそわしています。しかも待っているのは、毛糸だけではありません。私の初めての紡ぎ車も、これから海を渡って来る予定です。どちらも届きましたら、ブログに書く予定です。良かったら、またのぞいてみてください。

足袋靴下出来ました。ストライプがきれいにでるように、TECHknittingさんのjogless stripes の記事を参考にしました。

 

 

 

これが裏側です。

お正月に札幌に住む夫のおばあちゃんと話をしたときに、おばあちゃんが、「昔は靴下編んだよ〜。親指も作ったよ。そんなに難しくないよ。」と言うのを聞いて、足袋のようにしてみました。

A new camera, first knitting post

Until the day before yesterday, my camera was my cellphone. Well… not anymore! I took a giant leap from my mobile-as-my camera-days, and bought a real camera yesterday. It is Nikon D 200. I bought the camera for ¥50,400, and a lens (Ai-s Nikkor 24mm F2.8) for ¥12,600 at a second-hand-camera-shop in Nakano.

I am very happy :> Here is a photo of me knitting. The picture was taken by my dear husband who went to the shop with me and encouraged me to buy this camera.

My husband loves photography and has two other lenses that can be used with this camera. (No wonder why he encouraged me to buy this. ;>) On the other hand, I am not used to any cameras, let alone any manual-focus cameras, but I am already enjoying taking pictures with this.

And finally, here comes my first kniting post. I am knitting a pair of socks right now with Noro kureyon sock yarn. The pattern is my original. It is a very simple Noro-stripe sock from one ball with a toe. 

中野のフジヤカメラで中古カメラ＆レンズを買いました。ブログのためというわけではありませんが、これでブログにもどんどん写真を載せることができると喜んでいます。

今編んでいるのは野呂のクレヨンソックヤーンの靴下です。

この糸は、もともとかせではなく玉の状態でくる糸ですが、結び目と色を確認したくて、一度自分で、ペーパータオルの芯を使って玉に巻き直してから編み始めました。糸がすぐに絡まろうとするので、巻くのも一苦労でしたが、色の発色が美しく、手触りも素朴で、お気に入りの糸になりました。

ストライプの模様を作るため、毛糸の玉の内と外から糸を取り出して、交互に編む人もいますが、私は、玉を巻き直したときにいくつかの玉に分けて、それらのうちの２つから、交互に４段ずつ編んでいます。

I am minowa. And you are reading my blog. I am on Ravely; and my Ravelry name is also miowa. Before I joined Ravelry, I had not joined any online community, and didn’t  have any user name/handle name. When I had to pick  my Ravely name, I did not know what to name me, but I knew it had to be memorable to me. So I picked the name of the railway station I use daily. If you are in Tokyo, you’ll probably know where it is. After spending hours day after day for almost a year on Ravelry, now I want my own blog to talk about my knitting, hopefully spinning, and other creative and even not so creative side of my life. After a year, I am very attached to my name–minowa, and here I am, writing Minowa’s Blog.

 

２００８年はラベリーに登録し、編み物の楽しさに一気に引き込まれ、ラベリーの中をのぞいて色々と見るだけで、幸せになり、満足する年でした。２００９年はブログを始め、創作意欲をもっと形にする一年にしたいと思っています。
